Spring in Atlanta
While the blossoming redbuds, dogwoods and various fruit trees are just spectacular in Atlanta's Spring (and the pollen blankets everything), there is another appeal to this time of the year. The fresh bright new green on the trees, not yet forming a full canopy, so letting some glowy light to pass through, for a wonderful fairy tale mood.
Here is such an image taken a couple of evenings ago at our neighborhood park:

Travel image
Today's picture is an image from inside the stunning Sainte Chapelle, in Paris. After talking quite a bit about France with a good friend yesterday, I got quite nostalgic and pulled some older images, to quench my longing. This was taken on film a few years ago:

One is fun!
The boy with possibly the world's bluest blue eyes has turned one!
He and his family are some of my favorite people to photograph, they are so much fun to be around!
This image is an example of a storyboard which can be printed at common sizes (this one's is 11x14) and thus easily framed. No matting is necessary, since there is a custom made digital mat around the images. I love the look of the multiple-picture boards!
Stay tuned for a special offer on these (see current prices on my Services page).

Anticipation
Today I had the pleasure of visiting with one of my doula clients, and meeting her husband and daughter. The little girl is absolutely brilliant and she had my son wearing a tutu in no time at all :) I look forward to being part of what I am certain will be an absolutely amazing entrance into this world of their second baby, in about a month or so!
Here is a sweet silhouette image of Mom and daughter awaiting baby:

babyhood
Ahhh, fuzzy hair, chubby baby rolls, droopy cheeks. So delicious.
I was going through some older pictures tonight, and I came across this -- one of my favorite images of one of my favorite babies:

Can you tell that my little friends have some European blood? Thanks for posing for me again, Nicholas and William -- you both are, as usual, very very photogenic!

School Portraits
I am very excited to say I will have the pleasure of creating the portraits for the children attending the super cool Atlanta Montessori International School this spring.
I am looking forward to working with the 130 or so kids, and giving their parents a fresh set of images capturing who these exceptional children are at this point in their lives.
Here is a contact sheet of some portraits of the children in one of the classes, taken a couple of months ago. I can honestly say I have never seen such a diversely gorgeous group of people:

Sister, sister, brother, brother...
...they are so sweet with each other!
(a song we like to sing)
Today's pictures: sibling sweetness, spontaneous, after having played in the creek and run together through the grass on this glorious afternoon.

All creatures
... great and small. Stay tuned for more animal portraits I took this past weekend while spending a few hours with friends and family at the Yellow River Game Ranch, home of the world renowned groundhog Beau, the recognized authority in predicting the onset of Southern spring. Here is a doe-eyed... umm... doe:

Textures, again
I found this awesome old paper texture on the internet, so I just had to use it. I think it works great with this sepia portrait of this little girl, it gives it a fine art, vintage, weathered, timeless appeal. Do you agree?

Beauty glows
My dear friend Meg is a perfect example of someone who's beautiful inside and out. Plus she has the most crystal-like, aqua, shimmery eyes I have ever seen!

Katie, again
Some more pictures from Friday's shoot. It almost feels like I am picking them at random, there are so many that I think are absolutely gorgeous!

Sugar and Spice...
... and Puppy Dog Tails!
Today (ok, technically yesterday) I photographed the wonderful Katie. I have yet to go through all the pictures that we took -- we had a lot of fun, and choosing just a few favorites is almost impossible.
She is fashion-model-beautiful, super smart and thoughtful, full of joy and quite the nature-loving tomboy. We got along perfectly!
Thanks Katie and Katie's Mom for the opportunity to capture some great images of this time in Katie's life! I will blog a few more pictures tomorrow, as I promised a sneak peek. Here are a couple of quick ones for now:

That light
You know which one, the 7pm low golden sun... ahhh, so delicious!
Here are some of my favorite subjects, in my favorite light:
You've seen this little girl before I think :)
And beautiful:
And a good photographer, as well. Look at the pictures she took! Thanks Nonnie, I am so happy to have these images of me and my very sleepy little 1.5 year old treasure!
Capturing the mood
I love the images I took of the bouquet, cake and lights in the reception room. Here is one of my favorites.
Also, an image that grew on me and became one of the ones that speak to me about the "closeness and love in the midst of a world hurrying by" that often comes to mind when I think of this wonderful little family:

Smiles and dances
Last few of the recent wedding, as I am finishing going through all of them.
An image of the gorgeous ladies of the wedding party:
(this is a new post-processing technique I developed, not black and white, not sepia, but rather a glowy, golden-coppery shimmery tone -- I love the way it looks with portraits!)
And one of the dance floor:
Kept in constant motion by the super fun, well-chosen music selections of the talented MC Earl of Barkhill Sound:
