2012 Childhood Calendar - a charitable journey
The time has come again to ask you to please join us on our annual charitable journey!
You may know that every year local families participate in creating a one-of-a-kind, beautiful and important piece of art: a calendar the profits from which go entirely to a not-for-profit organization committed to bettering the lives of children and families in direct or indirect ways.
Last year, with your support we proudly raised $5,630 for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
This year, we hope to top that in our quest to raise funds for another worthy organization, Jack and Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation.
Who are they and what do they do for children? Imagine a family with young children and a parent who is fighting an advanced stage of cancer. Jack and Jill has a unique mission: for such families, they will provide an all-expenses-paid getaway to a location of the family's choosing! For several magical and memorable days, they get to be a family having fun, away from the medical intrusiveness of battling this illness. Something so ordinary for most other families, yet so unique and precious. Something they are grateful for, for the rest of their lives. An experience that provides the young children with memories they will review and cherish as they grow, memories of joyful times with their parents, when they got to be the simply that: a family, together, enjoying life. Jack and Jill also provides them with cameras if needed, and a way to create a keepsake memory book free of charge.
This charity speaks to me on so many levels: the delighting in the present moment; the creation of visual reminders of the joy and closeness in our families. I feel strongly that their work is important and will help these young children remember the love their family shared, as the future unfolds.
Will you be a part of this? They need funds, and you can help simply by purchasing one (or a pack of 10 if you'd like to give some as gifts!) of our beautiful Childhood Calendars. They are available to be shipped, or for pickup in NE Atlanta, or in Johns Creek at the Blue Dangles Boutique. For just $12.99 you get a beautiful piece of wall art featuring closeups of local children, and 100% of the profits go to Jack and Jill. The calendars would look great on display in a kid's room, in their classroom, anywhere really.
You can check the calendar's official website here. Join us on this journey, will you?
These calendars are limited edition, once the original issues are sold, there will be no reprints. And we do hope to sell every single one of them!
If you know of local merchants who would be happy to distribute these around town, please connect us with them (oana@shutterview.com), and we will gladly list them on our site.

Image Box (product spotlight)
One of my favorite products, and a perfect choice for those families looking to own all their favorites from our session, is the Image Box. It provides an alternative to our (equally gorgeous ) canvas-covered art book and black matted album, with the benefit that the individually mounted, artistically bordered portraits can be rotated on display, on whimsical easels (one included), all through the house.

A boy and his dog
{child and pet photography, Buckhead, Atlanta}
This wonderful family were the winners of one of the certificates we donate to local fundraising auctions each year. They wanted this session to focus on their son, so we created some really fun portraits of their sweet handsome boy. And of course we had to feature some of the important people (and dog!) in his life!
